Indoor fitness trainings with Olympic athletes.

Updated: Jul 28, 2020

During the European lockdown due to the current pandemic, we organised live trainings on our Facebook and Instagram pages. These trainings were the perfect opportunity to motivate people to move and sweat more while being stuck at home. In order to make it even more interesting, we had the privilege to have some pro athletes from different sports: trail running, triathlon, cycling, ... - as coaches.

At the end of the trainings, the athletes offered the opportunity to the viewers to ask questions in the comments section in order to create interactions as people might be shy to ask directly the athletes questions even if Pro athletes are always very happy to share their experiences.

As we mentioned earlier, we had the chance to share trainings with two amazing women athletes qualified for the Olympics Games in Tokyo 2021, Jolien D'Hoore and Laurie Phai.

Jolien D'Hoore is a pro rider for Boels-Dolmans Cycling Team. In addition, she proudly represents Belgium and she is an Olympic bronze medallist omnium Rio ‘16 and will aim for more in Tokyo 2021.

The omnium is is a multiple race event in track cycling. The four events - Scratch race, Tempo race, Elimination race and then a twenty-kilometre point race - take part in one single day. It is the most complete track event as it rewards the most complete riders, sprint, endurance, mental strength, and obviously tactics.

Riders score points at each race according to their rankings. The winner of the Omnium is the rider who has obtained the highest total of points.

During the training with Jolien, we focused on strength and hips mobility but showing us the routine she does before every single ride.

This 25' indoor warm up prevents major injuries and to prepare her mind for her daily training on the bike - read our article about "How should I organise my workout?".

The video of the workout with Jolien is also available on our YouTube channel:

A couple of days before training with Jolien, we could share a session focusing on legs and core with the international running athlete Laurie Phai.

Laurie Phai was a world class table tennis player for many years representing France during the international competitions. Once her first sport career was done, she was looking for another sports challenge. She felt in love with running. Since then, she runs all kind of distances - from 5 to 70 km - on all kind of terrains - from road to ultra technical trails in so many different countries - France, Portugal, Morocco and of course Cambodia.

Born with a Cambodian father, she has had the opportunity to represent Cambodia during the running events. For example, she was part of the first Cambodian team representing their countries during the Trail Running World Championships in Portugal in 2019.

As trail running is not an Olympic event, she decided to focus more on road running in order to represent Cambodia during the Olympic marathon event.

The video of the workout with Laurie and her son is also available on our YouTube channel. You are never too young or too old to start a working out and having fun while sweating.

These sessions were only previews of what these athletes do in order to perform at their best during the most important competitions.

Feel free to ask any questions in the comments section down below, they will enjoy answering them. They are sports lovers and always ready to share tips and advice with you so you can be a better athlete.
